Beau Brendler: the link that is posted in the e-mail and above goes to a password-protected page
Seth Greene 2: I'll let Gisella/Matt know.

Glenn McKnight: A delicate balance between privacy protection vs free speech
Eduardo Diaz: Can someone publish the link to the ALAC statement?
Eduardo Diaz: Got it from the agenda. Do not worry.
Heidi Ullrich: You're fast, Eduardo!
Joly MacFie: https://community.icann.org/display/alacpolicydev/ALAC+Statement+on+WHOIS+Policy+Review+Team+--+Discussion+Paper
Glenn McKnight: I don't see the icon indicating who is speaking, I see Alan holding his hand up
Evan Leibovitch: there is no icon for who's speaking
Evan Leibovitch: not everyone on the call is necessarily on adobe and vice versa
Darlene Thompson: There is only an icon for who's speaking if they are using the audio in Adobe Connect - which they aren't for this meeting
Glenn McKnight: CBC   Q radio segment last week had a two experts discussing this issue .  one  a British Columbia Privacy Commissioner vs a Human Rights E Democarcy advocate
Glenn McKnight: Darlene I don't see the icon,
Glenn McKnight: I think Garth Bruen is speaking but I don't see the icon
Evan Leibovitch: This -- WHOIS policy -- is one in which the interests of end-users IMO differs from that of registrants. Part of the problem here is that registrants and end-users have been improperly blended in the ICANN idea of who are "users"
Evan Leibovitch: Glenn, I think this is the link to the nterview you mention: http://www.cbc.ca/q/blog/2011/10/04/is-online-privacy-over-rated/
Heidi Ullrich: Members of the Whois RT: http://www.icann.org/en/reviews/affirmation/composition-4-en.htm
Garth Bruen: Re: ccTLDs, many like .CA draw a line between commercial and personal domains and do not allow proxies for commercial entities.
Evan Leibovitch: ... which is IMO a Good Thing
Joly MacFie: Is Kathy Kleiman still PIR?
Evan Leibovitch: @joly: yeas
Joly MacFie: I saw they appointed an new public policy director.. and she just popped on NCUC for the first time since she went there so I wondered
Garth Bruen: The rules for commercial WHOIS should be the same as business is in general. In the real world, one cannot have secret ownership of a pharmacy or bank.
Heidi Ullrich: Seth and Lutz Donnerhacke, the At-Large reps to the Whois RT, will be giving an update during the ALAC Policy Discussion - Pt 2 - Scheduled for Tuesday, 26 October in Dakar:
Heidi Ullrich: Meeting agenda for Tuesday: https://community.icann.org/display/atlarge/At-Large+Meetings+-+Tuesday%2C+25.10.11
Heidi Ullrich: Sorry, 25 October...

Matt Ashtiani: a copy of the presentation can be downloaded here - http://goo.gl/7a4en
Eduardo Diaz: Who is speakimg?
Beau Brendler 3: kurt pritz
Joly MacFie: more brochure money ! :)
Evan Leibovitch: To me the ICANN Strategic Plan is a massive waste of time and energy, not just on the part of At-Large but of all of ICANN. In fact, at this critical time (i.e., US Government contracts up for renewal, changes at both CEO and Board Chair, and increasing pressure from governments to scrap the whole experiment), such an energy consuming exercise in "navel-gazing" simply calls public attention to the extent of which ICANN is out of touch with the community it is supposed to serve. I truly believe that the abandonment of this charade of creating laminated motherhood statements and diversion of energies to matters more pressing is urgently called upon.
Evan Leibovitch: I promise to sit this part out, but I guess I can't
Evan Leibovitch: :-)
Darlene Thompson: Riiiiiight - you had no intention of sitting this one out!
Evan Leibovitch: how about telling us how much money is available and let US do the prioritization?!?
Gareth Shearman: yes, I agree that we  need to be more involved in the process.
Evan Leibovitch: They day that ICANN invites At-Large to participate in its regional registrar roadshow events, I'll believe that there is a genuine desire to co-ordinate outreach "company wide"
Darlene Thompson: Thank you Carole and Kurt!
Evan Leibovitch: Thanks, Glenn
Joly MacFie: A current Pew survey http://isoc-ny.org/p2/?p=2580
Glenn McKnight: I agree on the financial/invoicing procedures
Heidi Ullrich: 2010 ALS Survey Workspace: https://community.icann.org/display/ALSurvey/At-Large+Structure+2010+Survey+Workspace
Heidi Ullrich: Gareth, your line has been muted.
Olivier Crepin-Leblond: Evan -- in response to your comment about the day ICANN invites At-Large to participate in its regional roadshow events, we are also requesting this in the At-Large improvements report. Recommendation 4 (from 4.3, 4.3.1, 4.3.1.1, 4.3.2, 4.6 etc.)
Heidi Ullrich: Cheryl is also on all regional mailing lists.
