May 2010

Since the last ALAC meeting the WG Future Structure, Accountability and Transparency of ICANN help to write a
Draft ALAC Statement on Reconsideration Request 10-1 Recommendation.
It was then adopted by At-Large.

April 2010

Since the last ALAC meeting the WG Future Structure, Accountability and Transparency of ICANN didn’t have specific activity.
But we are working on the revitalization of the Future Structure, Accountability and Transparency WG. THe following ail was send to the members:
"Since the At-Large Summit (ATLAS) in Mexico in 2009 a lot of work has been done by the At Large Accountability and Transparency and the Future Structure and Governance working groups, now merged as the Future Structure, Accountability and Transparency WG. We are entering into a new phase with the setup of the first Review Team decided by the Affirmation of Commitment (AoC) on Accountability and Transparency and membership of the team by ALAC chair, Cheryl Langdon-Orr.
We suggest the following actions:
(1) With the help of At-Large staff, list all the documents created by or with the help of the Accountability and Transparency WG, including ALAC statements on accountability and transparency. These documents can form the basis of At Large contributions to the review team. We hope these documents can be collated before the first meeting of the review team (week of May 3rd?)
(2) Revitalize the WG by
o Asking the participants of the Summit working groups to confirm their willingness to continue as members and to participate (actively)
o Propose to the ALS and their members participate in this working group
o Confirm or change the team leaders
(3) Organize the WG for future actions (on Public Comment, help to At-Large Review Team member, etc.)

March 2010

Since the last ALAC meeting the WG Future Structure, Accountability and Transparency of ICANN didn’t have specific activity. But some of the member of the WG participate actively in the work to sort the list of candidates to participate to the first AOC review team on Ensuring accountability, transparency and the interests of global Internet users and to endorse part of the candidates.
It is not the best outcome (after this hard work) that the selectors – the chairs of the Board and of the GAC – decide to keep the number of participants from ALAC to one.

February 2010

No specific action by the Future Structure, Accountability and Transparency of ICANN WG was due during the last period.
However some of our members were involved in the work about the:

  • Setting of the ALAC members to the Review teams as an AoC Process

Furthermore the WG will need to look to all the publications (from the 15th of February, all in once) open for comments. And more specifically to the Proposed Framework for the Fiscal Year 2011 Operating Plan and Budgetto be compare to the not yet decide by the BoardICANN Draft Strategic Plan 2010-2013.

January 2010
